We can look at creative practices like writing as ritual, much like our yoga and meditation practices. Writing is a form of self-study: a deep dive to purge what no longer serves us, drawing us into deep contemplative inquiry. The practice of journaling or free-writing is an exercise in presence and discipline, much like maintaining a yoga or meditation practice. Journaling brings clarity, which hones and sharpens the authentic voice.

The session will begin with a short 20-minute sequence of gentle movement to direct and shape the breath, followed by a brief guided meditation to quiet the mind as we start to get out of our own way. Then, we'll channel the muse through a series of free-writing exercises to move past blockages and get the creative juices flowing. Wear clothes you can move in, and bring your journal and a pen—we're diving deep! And don't forget your yoga mat—unless you're inspired to feel the earth beneath your feet.
Class time devoted to lecture: 31-45 minutes
