Katonah Adjustments
Limited Capacity seats available

Developing your own vision is the key to learning how to adjust well. The goal of an adjustment is to change someone's frame of reference. For the most part, since personal style summons one's unconscious habits, adjusting another practitioner's pose offers a different angle, a new direction, or a re-orientation in order to open a portal of experience impossible on one's own. We will work pragmatically as well as theoretically, moving through asanas in order to discover how best to approach an adjustment, move a body, affect someone's practice and change a mind. Come fine tune your capacity as an adjuster, develop your relationship to touch and enhance your ability to see more dimensionally in order to enrich another person's vision.

Revolution of the Soul
Limited Capacity seats available

"What an intense and wild time to be alive. There is much conflict and division in our world, but as difficult as these times are, they are also exciting, invigorating, and rich with the possibility for collective freedom. People are speaking out and rising up. It's amazing, it's hopeful and—when so many lives are at stake—utterly necessary. We have the power to unite, organize, and create real social change. Change that benefits everyone. Change that leads to liberation; to Oneness; to God. And that power is love. That is the revolution of the soul. But how can we harness that power? How do we awaken to love? It begins with our own spiritual evolution. It begins with truth." (Excerpt from Revolution of the Soul)

Inspired by her new book, Revolution of the Soul, this class will explore the spiritual tools for individual transformation that can lead to collective liberation, including discussion, asana practice, meditation, reflection, and prayer.

Soul II Soul: Sacred Movement/Meditation/Writing
Limited Capacity seats available

Soul II Soul asks you to establish yourself in the present moment through movement in order to explore some hard questions. This is a practice with its roots in intelligent, movement based vinyasa with focus on natural alignment and sustainability, the mid point between alignment and flow, outer and inner, focus and release, holding on and letting go.

Are you ready to allow yourself to heal through any wounds and resurface with a new feeling? Are you ready to honor those feelings and draft a new story? Words that are born from breath are more like prayers, when we touch them, they are freed. Unnamed feelings now have a whole new life, a whole new meaning. They are free to reshape themselves through cognition and suddenly, aren't so scary after all. These words free us from fear.

This class was designed with the feeling to explore and embrace the inner chaos that we create through holding, grasping and clinging to things that no longer serve us - how do we let go? How do we explore ways of accepting and creating a new paradigm? HOW DO WE DO THESE THINGS and still retain our true self? Somewhere under all of the human experience our true self lies hidden in the silence between your thoughts, beyond all limiting beliefs, however it is the confusion of your thoughts that cause you to forget. This practice is US taking the beginning steps TOGETHER back to those hidden spaces and place.

Let's create a space together. Let's embark on a journey to empower each other through yoga, journaling, breath, innate intuitive ancestral awareness and knowledge.

In this unique experience you will:
- Engage in breath work
- Move your body through alignment-based vinyasa
- Meditate with Mantra
- Participate in reflective writing practice

Soul II Soul was developed around 4 simple principles: intuition, ancestral wisdom, meditation and yoga. Through these principles, we create the bridges for people to radiate and expand to help their stories bloom, through this creation a ritual is born that you can take with you anywhere to stay connected. I assist in bringing forth the creative power present in inhabiting our bodies with confidence, awareness and compassion.

Do not miss this opportunity to uncover more of who you are.

In this thorough examination of ecstatic heart opening we will be releasing the shoulders, hip flexors, and groin as well as awakening the core before taking a look at the different ways to safely access and understand the grace and beauty of backbending.

The class begins with a lengthening of the spine through a number of progressive twists, deepens with block work in lunges and culminates with a series of breathtaking heart openers and inversions. In the final moments we will rest in a state of deep stillness and inner reflection brought about by the energy of our practice. Side effects of this class may include tears of joy, powerful expansions of breath, waves of happiness and radical well being.

Hints For Self-Realization and Dharma Yoga Nidra
Limited Capacity filling up

This class provides a unique opportunity to learn the essence of yoga directly from living Yoga Master Sri Dharma Mittra. In combination with Yoga Nidra, this makes for a potent mixture. Years of dedicated study and service to humanity have led Sri Dharma to some realizations regarding the nature of life and the nectar of intelligence behind all things.

Dharma Yoga Nidra provides instant, pure energy. One session equals 1-3 hours of deep sleep, one hour of meditation or two hours of Yogic exercises (Asana), but is superior to them all. Soon, you will go beyond ordinary consciousness to where your thoughts become powerful and creative. Deep Psychic Purification or Yoga Nidra is for the person of the future who gets his or her energy from within, rather than from outside. Regular practice will allow you to tap into the boundless joy that is already within.

Full Spectrum Flow: Vinyasa For Sustainability & Wholeness
Limited Capacity full

Patanjali's sutra 2.46 says Sthira Sukham Asanam = Asana should be steady and easeful. In aligning with this sutra, we aim to simultaneously embody the polarities of strength and softness in our posture practice. Yet in today's landscape, many practices are weighted either more towards end-range stretch or strength-building calisthenics. Integrated Vinyasa™ is a yoga practice rooted in intelligent, natural evolutionary patterns and sustainability. It unifies the polarities of alignment and flow, anatomy and energetics, engagement and relaxation, outer and inner, focus and release, structure and spontaneity, and work and play as a means of illuminating how to take Patanjali's sage advice off our mats and into our lives.

Katonah Body Reading
Limited Capacity seats available

Learning to read a body via asana work is one of the goals of teaching yoga. Poses are snap shots that show things in the moment. Reading a body, assessing a pose, interpreting where one is heading, is the art of seeing. Seeing patterns such as the repetition of arches in the body on every floor, or how a collar bone is turned will be reflected in the wrist. Poses show propensities of behavior and how personal habits are articulated in the practice. When we are looking at a yoga pose, we reference the ideal form of it so that we have a template, a map, a criteria to look for. Form that is not functional, that is dysfunctional, is not sustainable. Our work is to transform the personal to a formal form that functions formidably.

Awake Heart
Limited Capacity seats available

Integrating Buddhist teachings, dynamic alignment-based movement and captivating storytelling, we will discover how an awake heart (bodhichitta) is always available, even amidst the reality of planetary suffering, and the whirlwind of daily life.  A key understanding for awakening is this: you cannot selectively numb.  Our usual habit is to look away - avoiding, distracting, and spiritual bypassing the most tender, vulnerable parts of ourselves.  By doing so, we unconsciously cut ourselves off from opening to the FULL expression of this exquisite life, from our innate ability to love.
This healing practice invites us to gently wade into the deeper waters of the heart, accessing forgotten aspects of ourselves.
Nurturing.
Opening.
Reconnecting.
Along the way, we awaken to our compassion.  We contact our limitless joy.
We learn how to abide in an unconditional openness that we can access anytime, no matter the circumstance.

Arm balances are some of the most fun, exciting, and challenging poses of the yoga practice. Most also require flexible hips—a place many of us have tightness. Don't let that deter you from starting arm balance practice now. Finding hip flexibility is more than simply stretching and waiting to achieve the elasticity we desire. With Matt, we explore techniques to find our fullest range of motion through optimal skeletal alignment and muscular engagement for deep, isometric hip strengtheners. We will also develop a true sense of our core and how its location, stability and strength relate to our arms and hips. Get ready to sweat, fly, and go deeper in your body in a way that is safe, healthy and absolutely powerful.

During the second half the focus is on using that opening to try new poses and discovering places of balance, space and restoration. Rather than highlighting any one group of muscles this workshop touches lightly on all areas of the body to leave the practitioner feeling deliciously complete.

Katonah Home Practice
Limited Capacity seats available

A home practice addresses the vision and virtue of personal health, wellbeing and long life. Engaging in a home practice is a way of addressing the manner in which one personally organizes one's self; developing a determined life, setting goals and following through. By making the choice to turn inward for a determined amount of time, in a personal space, at a particular time of day, determined by a schedule, one's personal practice is supported by one's personal time management. In this most organized way, we find our freedom in this prescribed confinement. This interior shift of mind into the body's intelligence, endows the organs and their attendant glands with more efficiency. And then by virtue of this gargantuan effort, one's physiology impinges on one's psychology.

Let's harness this pure life force to lighten and brighten your energy. Clear and release stagnant, emotions. Let go of what is no longer serving you.
Class begins with a short intro, pranayama and light warmup, followed by a kriya set (short, repetitive movements for extended time - not flow) and deep rest. Healing gong vibration may be played during savasana. We will finish up with a longer seated active mantra meditation.
Through the use of breathwork, repetitive motion and chanting mantra, we lighten through the physical body and brighten the subtle body.
